Silos belong on the farm. Sadly, we see too many in organizations. Are your managers building silos in your company? Silos in organizations can happen when roles and expectations are unclear. Lack of transparency is a serious concern and this creates barriers to trust within any organization.

Breaking the silo mentality is important because it helps connect people. If your managers are building silos, you probably will find individual pieces of the business aren't working. In an article by EngageBay, separate department agendas was noticed by 40% of employees where silos were present in the workplace. Patrick Lencioni said it best---- “Silos – and the turf wars they enable – devastate organizations."

When you run smack into a manager with a silo mentality, what do you do?
The leader's role helping managers to understand the unified vision and commit to collaborative behavior is critical to silo busting.
